Barcombe charity fun run in aid of Project Zambia
The Branch Manager of our Lewes branch, Tim Parsons, is encouraging the local community to get their running shoes on and take part in the Barcombe Charity Fun Run to raise money for Project Zambia.
Taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May, at Barcombe Recreation Ground, the fun run wil include a competitive 10k run, a 6k charity fun run, where those competing are encouraged to wear fancy dress and run with a friend, and a children's mini route around the ground.
Project Zambia supports small villages around Ndola helping them to become self sufficient. So far, the charity has already helped to build a toilet block for a school, install water pumps, connect an electricity supply and give out mosquito nets, amongst other things.
Currently, Project Zambia is raising money to build a small orphanage and to support a feeding programme, with only 75p needed to buy a child a meal.
Tim Parsons, who is the Chairman of Project Zambia, commented, "The Barcombe Charity Fun Run is something that the whole family can get involved with and enjoy, and I know some of my Chandlers colleagues are taking part. The whole idea of Project Zambia is to help communities become self sufficient, and 100% of the money raised from the fun run will go towards helping to achieve this. I would like to thank everyone who is taking part for their support."
As well as looking for runners to compete in the races, marshals are also required, so Project Zambia would like to hear from anyone who has some spare time to give.
The entry fee for the 10k race is £7.50 per person andcompetitiors are advised to book their place. The entry fee for the 6k race is £5 and all entry fee money will go straight to Project Zambia. Entry forms are available from Barcombe Stores, The Royal Oak pub and Chandlers' Lewes branch.
