Making Dreams come true: Chandlers supplies fabulous Ecohome
After 2 years in the planning our customer, small developers Mark and Richard Proctor, have created 2 spectacular Eco homes nestled in the Sussex countryside. On the site of what was old poultry sheds, the Cambridge Farm development is set in a gloriously tranquil rural setting, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, close to the sought-after village of Waldron.
From the very start they wanted to create something different and to get away from the standard Sussex traditional house build. The result is both contemporary yet fully in harmony with its rural setting. The development offers all that is best from present-day construction, with superior levels of insulation, aluminium windows and doors, air source central heating system, coupled with a high specification "intelligent" heat recovery ventilation. Heat recovery systems work by drawing on the potentially valuable warm air or water in a property and getting it to work just a little bit harder. Heat recovery systems don't replace the need for a boiler or other technology to heat your radiators but it does help them work more efficiently by recycling that warm air ensuring that you get the most out of it.
The design is forward thinking such that the electrical and network systems have been future proofed, with Cat 6 wiring and multi-point entertainment outlets. These homes will also allow the new owners to retro-fit Photovoltaic solar panels if so desired. All with the peace of mind of a 10-year Build Zone structural guarantee.
The well thought through design has resulting in stunning buildings which integrate with their woodland setting. They have a definite Scandinavian feel, with their pre-weathered engineered Douglas Fir elevations, GreenCoat raised seam Nordic steel roofs, fascias and soffits together with galvanized steel gutters and downpipes.
Chandlers supplied many of the materials which went into making these beautiful homes including the aggregates, blocks, plasterboard and stone gambions which set off the driveaway and garden.
It is not just the exterior which has been carefully thought through, the internal finishes are all to the same high standard creating an elegant understated luxurious feel. The "hub-of-the-home" is the open-plan bespoke kitchen supplied by Chandlers, fitted with stunning, fully integrated appliances, high tech extractor and Strata Quartz worktops. Watch video
Mark Proctor said "We have been so pleased with all the building materials supplied by Chandlers; so when it came to the kitchen we decided to use Chandlers (Gardiners Kitchens) having seen the finish on another local development. We have been delighted with the finish and service from sales to fitters."
