Lewes branch teams up with the Rookettes to support Cystic Fibrosis Tust
Our Lewes branch and Lewes Ladies FC, known as the 'Rookettes', are joining forces and supporting each other. The branch is delighted to be sponsoring Lewes Ladies FC defender, Rebecca Thompson, and the team has announced that, as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is their charity of the year, they will be donating all money raised to the Chandlers £50k Challenge appeal.
The Chandlers £50k Challenge is aiming to raise £50,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in honour of Chandlers' employee Rob Sadler, a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer himself. Rob had a double celebration last year, marking not only 30 years of Chandlers' employment, but more significantly his 50th birthday; those with Cystic Fibrosis are not expected to live beyond middle age or even their 40s.
The appeal has so far raised £35,000 and we are delighted that the figure will be boosted by the support of Lewes Ladies FC. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is close to the hearts of everyone associated with the club, as 12-year-old 'superfan', Emma Roberts, has the condition.
Chandlers sponsored, Rebecca Thompson, said, "I am absolutely honoured to have been sponsored by Chandlers and be part of a team that will be working hard to raise money for a well deserved cause."
Prior to joining the Rookettes from neighbouring Brighton and Hove Albion, Rebecca was one of the few gifted athletes to receive a scholarship from the University of Chichester.
Stuart Campbell, Branch Manager at Chandlers Lewes, commented, "Everyone at Chandlers would like to say a big thank you to the Rookettes for supporting our Chandlers £50k Challenge Cystic Fibrosis appeal, it will certainly give it a big boost. We're delighted to be sponsoring Rebecca and wish her and the rest of the team all the best for the remainder of the season."
