Patchwork Farm gets going with groundworks materials from Chandlers
We're delighted to be part of Chailey Heritage Foundation's Patchwork Farm project and have recently helped get the build started by providing the groundworks materials.
The project is a brand-new therapy farm which is being built in Lewes by Chailey Heritage Foundation, a pioneering disability and education charity that supports children and young adults with neurological and motor conditions.
Once complete the multi-sensory farm will provide therapy sessions for Chailey's 220 youngsters and be home to goats, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs. It will also help deliver life skills and independence courses, and will eventually be opened for children with disabilities from across the country.
Thanks to our suppliers
Like any stage of a build, a lot goes on underground before it starts to be erected above the surface. Getting the foundations right on the Patchwork Farm site was vital to ensure the rest of the project runs smoothly; an error at this stage of a build can be costly as extra trenches and more concrete may be required.
Thanks to the generous suppliers listed below, who joined us to show their support and donated groundworks materials, or provided supplies at low cost, the build got off to a great start:
- Day Aggregates
You can follow the progress of the build through the video's that are regularly uploaded to Chailey Heritage Foundation's Facebook page. Our support doesn't end with the supply of the groundworks materials, as we will be working closely with our suppliers to provide further materials to help Chailey Heritage Foundation complete the farm.
The Patchwork Farm puzzle
As well as getting the build started with the groundworks materials, over the past six months our branches have been busy doing their own fundraising by asking customers to purchase a bit of a 1,000-piece Patchwork Farm puzzle. A big well done to our Petworth branch for being the first to finish, raising £3,000 for the project. If you've been in the branch recently, you've probably met Liz who has done a sterling job in encouraging customers to buy a piece to help raise funds.
Petworth's completed jigsaw puzzle will go on display at Patchwork Farm once the build is complete.
